The first homestay experience in the U.S.

 

Have you ever lived with different country’s people?

Some people say that they have stayed in foreign country for just traveling, studying, or business. Among these several reasons, I started to live with American in the U.S. for 3 weeks study seminar since last year. My first new homestay family is a typical American family consists of father, mother, two daughters and a son.

 

Before meeting them, I was highly excited to experience a new family culture in foreign country. However, my expectation was completely missed. Me and my new family did not match at all in life style. They just treated me as a business, so I could not harmonize with the family. I did not expect their very kindness, but at least, I wanted to live there comfortably and start my first American life with a good memory. 

 

After experiencing several episode there, I got to know I need to make myself express more clear and behave confidently. Also, I had to know I was not in Korea anymore, but in the U.S. now.!!!!!

Although being with that family was not very contented, the experience was made me a more confident and independent person now. Fortunately, my next homestay family was quite careful and warm hearted family compared to my first one.
